  • A 100 hour fast can be a longer step for someone used to 18:6 intermittent fasting and fasts of 24, 48 or 72 hours.
  • Part of this fast was a faith fast, and prayer may feel more dialed in.
  • A conflict with toxic communication may land differently when you feel more in tune.

Why I Chose a 100 Hour Fast

94 hours into a 100 hour fast and it’s been an interesting experience so far. My name is Loren Weisman, I’m a brand communications and optics strategist. And I chose earlier in the week due to some things that are happening physically, some health issues, some spiritual things and just mental well being.

I wanted to try a fast and I wanted to try something a little bit longer. I usually do that 18:6 intermittent fasting thing and I’ve played with the autophagy of the, you know, the 24, the 48.

Day One Through Day Three

I’ve done some 72’s, but I’ve never gone for the full 100 so far in the experience. Day one was pretty much normal. I mean, it’s something I’m used to. Day two, I was feeling just a little bit off, but feeling almost a little bit more centered.

Day three, because some of this is a faith fast, the prayers were really dialed in a little bit more. The connection was there. And mentally and even intellectually where I thought I’d be kind of driving off and falling off a bit, I felt a little sharper.

Calm in a Conflict

I even dealt with a conflict with an individual that was coming with attacks, toxic communication, narcissism. And I’m pretty good and pretty calm with my communication and crisis management skills and responses. But I felt just that much more in tune.

The End of Day Four

It didn’t get to me like I think it have in a normal given day and right now at the sort of at the end of day four and now adding these last few hours to make it an even hundred, I’m, I’m a little bit tired, but certain pains with some of the health issues I’ve gone on, they’re not there. I feel a little bit more energized.

The sleep was stronger, the dreams were more vivid and it was just an interesting experience as a whole. So 94 down, six more to go on the hundred hour. And it’s been interesting. Thought I’d share.

Questions and Answers

How do you feel on day three of a long fast?

In my own 100 hour fast, day three felt sharper than I expected. Prayer and connection may also feel more dialed in when part of the fast is a faith fast. On day two, I felt a little off but almost a little more centered. I also describe dealing with a conflict with an individual coming with toxic communication and feeling just that much more in tune.

Why would someone try a 100 hour fast?

Someone may try a 100 hour fast for physical health issues, spiritual reasons or mental well being. It can also be a longer step after 24, 48 and 72 hour fasts, as I share from my own experience. I usually do an 18:6 intermittent fasting and had never gone for the full 100 before this one.

Can a long fast affect sleep and energy?

A long fast can come with some tiredness alongside a feeling of more energy, as it did for me near the end of day four of my own fast. Sleep may feel stronger and dreams more vivid, though each person’s experience can differ. I also describe certain pains with some of my health issues not being there, and I call it an interesting experience as a whole.
