This policy explains what cookies are, which ones lorenweisman.com sets, which ones can be set by content embedded from other platforms, and how to control all of them. It works alongside the Privacy Policy.

1. What a Cookie Is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site recognize your browser on a later request, which is how a site remembers a setting or serves you the right version of a page. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work the same way for this purpose and are covered here too.

2. What This Site Sets

Cookies set by lorenweisman.com are limited to what the site needs in order to work:

  • Session and security. Standard WordPress cookies that keep a session valid and protect form submissions.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, your name, email, and site can be stored so you do not have to retype them next time.
  • Caching. The caching layer may use a cookie to decide which cached version of a page to serve you.
  • Administration. If you log in to the site as an administrator, standard WordPress login cookies are set. This does not apply to ordinary visitors.

3. What This Site Does Not Set

This site does not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third party analytics or advertising tracker on its pages. There is no advertising profile built from your visit, and no cross site tracking is performed by this site.

That is a statement about what is installed, and it can be checked by viewing the page source or by using the network tab in your browser.

4. Cookies From Embedded Content

Some pages embed content that is served by another platform, including YouTube videos and podcast players from services such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and iHeartRadio. When one of those embeds loads, that platform can set its own cookies and apply its own tracking, under its policy rather than this one. That behavior belongs to the platform, and it is the same as if you had visited that platform directly.

If you would rather not load them, open the episode or the video on the platform of your choice, or use your browser’s tracking protection to block third party content.

5. Comment Avatars

Where a comment displays an avatar, that image is served by Gravatar, an Automattic service, which receives a hashed version of the commenter’s email address for that purpose.

6. How to Control Cookies

Your browser controls cookies, and you can block or delete them at any time. This site remains readable with cookies blocked.

7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because this site runs no tracking or advertising scripts, a Do Not Track header or a Global Privacy Control signal has nothing here to act on. Your visit is not tracked across other sites either way.

9. Changes

This policy is updated when what the site sets changes. The date at the top of this page shows when the most recent change was made.
