Dadau. Daddy Daughter Graphics, Songs, Audios and Videos

Dadau is short for Daddy Daughter. It is the name on four pages: Dadau Graphics, Dadau Videos, Dadau Audios and Dadau Playlist. A graphic and a song go to my daughter every day. An audio and a video go to her every week.

The Four Pages

Dadau Graphics

A graphic every day since 18 November 2023. 1,033 of them through 15 September 2026, one for each of those days.

Some are funny. Some are riddles and puzzles and jokes. Some are pictures of where I was that day. Some are the ones where I was trying to tell her something and wanted it written down where she could find it again. I make every one myself, on the day it goes out.

The Dadau Graphics page has examples of the ones I sent her, the words and lessons from many of them, all of them together in one picture, and a short film that goes from the first graphic to the newest.

Dadau Videos

A video every week since 17 June 2024. 118 of them through 11 September 2026.

I send them so she can both hear me and see me for a moment when she wants to see me, as I share words, thoughts and feelings with her.

The Dadau Videos page shares the videos and links to each one. They also sit on the Daddy Daughter Weekly Videos channel on YouTube.

Dadau Audios

An audio every week since 18 June 2024. 127 episodes through 10 September 2026.

I want her to know she can go back and listen any time, to something with my voice in it. Some are memories, like the morning she was born, our Christmas visits and a drumming memory in Minneapolis. Some are ideas, for her birthday party, for our next visit and for falling asleep. Some are about how to carry yourself.

The Dadau Audios page has a Spotify player for each audio. It is also open on Spotify: the Daddy Daughter Audios Podcast.

Dadau Playlist

A song every day since 4 May 2026. 127 of them are in the playlist through 13 September 2026. Songs that are not on Spotify are not in it.

Sometimes it is for a story or a theme. Sometimes I am sending songs I love or songs that I think of that I want to share. They are collected in one playlist so she can open them any time.

The Dadau Playlist page has a Spotify player for the full playlist of songs. It is also open on Spotify: the Dadau Playlist.

How It Started

On 18 November 2023 I was dropped off at the airport in Orlando. My daughter and I spent some time together there that morning. After she left, I sat waiting for my plane, and I made her a graphic. I did not know how long I would be gone.

I made another the next day, and the day after that. Before a meeting, before the calls, before anything else in the day, the graphic gets made. The videos, the audios and the songs came later. I drove back into Orlando on 8 August 2026.

“1000 graphics. 1000 days in a row. I will stay connected every day in some way. And I have kept that promise!”

Every graphic I have sent her, one small colored square each, set in the shape of the letter O.

A Promise From a Visit

On 19 September 2024, on a visit, my daughter asked me to grow my hair and my beard out. The next day she asked if I would grow it till she tells me to stop. I said yes. Two years later it is still growing, a couple of trims aside. This short video, recorded on 19 September 2026, is why I have the hair and the beard.

I gave my daughter my word: why I grow my hair and beard. Two minutes, on YouTube.

The Stretch of Days I Was Away From Her and Not in Orlando

18 November 2023 to 8 August 2026
Total days995 days
Days back in Orlando to visit her, across five trips, when I was unable to stay full time34 days
Total days not in Orlando961 days

I am back now, and I am still working to get more days with her each week. The graphics did not stop when I came back. They have gone out every day since the day I left, and they still go out.

Questions and Answers

What does Dadau mean?

Dadau is short for Daddy Daughter. It is the name I use for the four pages listed above.

When did each one start?

The graphics on 18 November 2023. The videos on 17 June 2024. The audios on 18 June 2024. The songs on 4 May 2026.

How many are there?

1,033 graphics through 15 September 2026. 118 videos through 11 September 2026. 127 audio episodes through 10 September 2026. 127 songs in the playlist through 13 September 2026.

Who makes them?

I do. I make every one myself, on the day it goes out. The majority of the words are mine. I also share some thoughts and quotes from other people. Nothing is automated, nothing is written for me, they are from me, for her and created by me always.

Do they still go out?

Yes. I am back and closer now, and all four still go to her, the graphic and the song every day, the audio and the video every week.

Why is her name covered on the graphics?

Her name is across the top of every one. On these pages it is covered with the letter O. Nothing else on the graphic is changed.
