What I ask
If I have sent you this page, please feel free to download a copy for yourself, and to share the link directly with a close friend or friends.
Please do not post it in a public place online or on any social media site. The paperback, the ebook and the audio are still for sale online, and the quarterly royalties are still nice. I am happy for you to take advantage of the book gifting here. Please share sparingly.

Questions about the free copies
What is on this page?
The second edition of The Artist’s Guide to Success in the Music Business, free, in PDF, EPUB and MOBI, and the full audiobook in twelve chapter zips.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no email address to hand over, no form and no sign up.
Can I share it?
Directly with a friend, yes. Please do not post it in a public place online or on any social media site. The ebook and the audio are still for sale.
Is the paperback free too?
No. I do not own the rights to the paperback or the hardback, so what is here is the PDF, the EPUB and the MOBI.
Which file do I take?
The PDF for a computer, a phone or a tablet. The EPUB for an e-reader, and it is the one Amazon’s Send to Kindle takes. The MOBI for an older Kindle that a file is copied to over USB. The audiobook zips to listen rather than read.
Why are the EPUB and the MOBI inside a zip?
This site does not accept those two file types as uploads, so each one sits inside a zip. Unzip it and the file is there.
Who wrote the foreword?
Elliott Randall.
How long is the book?
456 pages, in eleven chapters.
Is there an audiobook?
Yes, and it is on this page, free. 264 tracks, 18 hours 28 minutes, in twelve zip files, one for the front matter and one for each chapter. It is also for sale on Audible.
What else have you written?
Four books. The Artist’s Guide to Success in the Music Business came out first in 2010 through Book Publishers Network, an independent publisher, ISBN 9781935359333. I rewrote the majority of it for the second edition, published in 2013 through Greenleaf Book Group, ISBN 9781608325788, and I kept the title because it had traction. That second edition is the one on this page. Music Business For Dummies was published by John Wiley and Sons in 2015, ISBN 9781119049654. The most recent came out in 2026 through an independent publisher. It is about communication, and about telling the true from the false in how people speak, write and present themselves. It offers ideas, strategies and possibilities as ways to respond. All four are described on the author strategy page.
