What Does Authenticity in Brand Communication Mean?
Authenticity in brand communication, in Loren Weisman’s view, can mean telling your own story with the authority you have, speaking from real knowledge, experience and expertise. He sets it apart from the trending tag of being authentic, and he sees it working for people who are genuine, an actual authority and prepared to be transparent.
- Popularity may not equal authority, and seeing that can help people choose who they listen to.
- Much of social media promotion, branding and marketing today may present a false image to pull people in and try to trick them into a sale.
- The foundation, meaning what you know and how you present it, can come ahead of any platform such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube.
- Vetting every piece of advice, including this advice, can matter, since the latest headline from the most popular person may carry no authority or truth.
- Following guides that teach you to “appear as” something or to trick people can harm your true brand.

A New Channel on Brand Communication and Optics
My name is Loren Weisman. Welcome to my new channel! This channel, this new channel, is about brand communication and optics.
It’s the messaging behind the marketing. It’s the methodology behind what you’re presenting, whether you’re in a business, whether you’re putting out a persona, an influencer, a product, a service.
Authenticity as More Than a Trending Tag
The concepts that I’m sharing on this channel stand in the word authenticity and the truth of that word, not the, you know, trending tag of being authentic, but genuinely speaking from a heart of knowledge, of experience, and if they have it, or if you have it, genuine expertise. The ideas here are things to think about for your platform, the foundation, not the platform, whether it be Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube.
These ideas here will go against, and do go against, many of the social media hype rules. This will work, and these ideas can work if you are genuine, true to heart, and an actual authority, and prepared to be transparent.
No Tricks for the Algorithm
This is not a place of showing you “Here’s how you trick the algorithm,” “Here’s how you grab more people,” “Here’s what you need to do in a video.” I throw that stuff out the window. If that’s what you’re about, stop the video right now.
Don’t watch this channel. It will bore you.
If you are looking to break through with your genuine voice, your true authority, your actual experience, and perhaps you’ve had trouble in piecing things together, in hearing a lot of different rumors and hearing hearsay, even some of these big social media mavens that say you need to do this, they know deep down that’s not necessarily true either because it’s hyped to get them video views or their quick conversion, or they just don’t genuinely care.
Standing Accountable for What I Share
Everything that I share with you on this channel, I stand accountable and could be held liable in a court of law. I’m fully transparent. I’m going to share with you ideas that, you know, for some people, it may make you uncomfortable. For others, it may make sense.
For other people, these may be thoughts in the back of your head that have been true to heart for you; however, you dismiss them because you allowed others to say, “No, you need to do this. You have to do that.” So much of what’s happening inside of social media promotion, in branding, and in marketing today, I feel, is based on presenting a false image to pull people in in a false way, try to get that conversion, to try to trick into that sale, to try to create an authority that isn’t there.
If you have that authority, that education, and that experience, and you’ve had trouble developing the platform, the foundation to build it on, this channel and myself, we may be able to help you.
Telling Your Story With Your Authority
This is done through organizing and optimizing in a positive, truthful, and transparent way what you know, how to present it, and how to stand out from so many other people that are doing song and dances and just all sorts of crazy, off-the-cuff, following the latest trend, and oftentimes falling flat on their butt. Inside of true, authentic brand communication is the communication of your story with your authority.
You can be inspired by other things, but if you have truth, if you’re standing in honesty, if you’re standing in morals, and you’re following the lessons and the guides of presenting yourself online like many of these that are pushing out to say “appear as” or “this will trick people,” then you’re only harming your true brand. I hope some of these ideas make sense.
Vetting Who You Listen To
Some of them you may find helpful, others you may already know, others you may want to dig a little bit deeper. But either way, vet my information. Vet what I share with you, but vet what other people share with you because sometimes the latest headline from the most popular person may have no authority or truth to it whatsoever.
Popularity doesn’t equal authority, and when we all realize that together, we can make better choices on who we listen to, how we apply it, and how we take our concepts, our communication, our brand, and our services online. That’s the channel.

Questions and Answers
Does popularity equal authority in branding?
Popularity may not equal authority, in Loren Weisman’s view. The most popular person may share a headline with no authority or truth to it, and seeing the difference can help people make better choices on who they listen to and how they present their own brand.
How do you vet advice from social media experts?
Vetting advice from social media experts can start with separating popularity from authority. Vetting all advice, including this advice, can matter, because some social media mavens may push hyped rules for video views or a quick conversion.
Can you build a brand without tricking the algorithm?
Yes, a brand can be built without tricks for the algorithm when you are genuine, an actual authority and prepared to be transparent. The work can then go into organizing and presenting what you know in a positive, truthful and transparent way.
How can a false image harm your brand?
A false image can harm your true brand, even when you stand in truth and morals. Guides that say to “appear as” something or that “this will trick people” can pull audiences in a false way and try to create an authority that is not there.
Who is authentic brand communication for?
Authentic brand communication can suit people who have authority, education and experience but have had trouble building the foundation to present it. It may apply whether you represent a business, a persona, an influencer, a product or a service.
